Vinarija Teodos

Zoki first learned winemaking from others in the region before building the experience and confidence to produce by himself.

The 5 ha of vines were planted between 2017 to 2022 and sit in a microclimate where there can be a 10 deg C temperature difference in just 20 metres distance. He believes this is due to the small land depression where cold air sits without any wind to blow it away.

Grass is allowed to grow between vines, not only for biodiversity and aesthetic purposes, but this also prevents cicadas spreading illness between vines, as they hop on to the grass first rather than directly from vine to vine.

The authorities have commented that that Teodos vineyard is one of the greenest in the region and

Yields are intentionally kept low (4 tonnes / ha), as is juice extraction (300 litres / tonne) to maintain quality.
The excess juice is then used to distil into rakija.
Around 4,000 bottles are produced per year.

Already glamping is available at the vineyard, and freshly prepared meals from local ingredients (with 2 days’ notice) with intentions to expand the accommodation offering and relocate the winery closer to the river where you can drink with an amazing view.
