LoHer

LoHer is a small family winery run by Fátima Hernández and her father Lorenzo Hernández  (LoHer is a contraction of Lorenzo Hernández)
Lorenzo began making wines in 1984 after a childhood in the vineyards with his mother.

Having spend her childhood in the vines with her father, then becoming qualified viticulture technician, Fátima established LoHer in 2013, joined the DO “Tacoronte Acentejo” and increased focus on quality.

Loher manage 14Ha of vines and produce 40,000 bottles / year
They work with 14 local grape varieties, mainly old vines of Listán Negro, Negramoll, Listán Blanco and grafted Malvasía Aromática, Moscatel and Castellana.

The bodega is located on the largest of their vineyards: Finca el Loro (3.5Ha)

Their focus is on quality, freshness and varietal expression, modernising without losing tradition and artisanal character.
Fátima is also one of the few producers in the Canaries working with Amphora fermentation.

LoHer have 3 main ranges:

  • 𝗟𝗼𝗛𝗲𝗿  –  their base range (often with black labels and the name of the grape varieties)
  • 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲  –  from recovered abandoned vineyards
  • 𝗟𝗼𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮  –  from the best grapes / batches of each vintage, changing each year (the labels are distinguishable by the oil painting style artwork of the vineyards).
