Baša Vino

Baša Vino (pronounced basha) is one of Serbia’s top natural winemakers and of the new wave of wines coming from historical wine region of Fruška Gora.

Founder Bojan Baša caught the “natural winemaking bug” from friends in Slovenia and Italy, and was inspired by Georgia’s traditional orange wines.
After rising to the top of a 24 year career in corporate finance, he took a leap of faith into winemaking; planting his first vines in 2010. The first vintage to be released was the 2017, released in 2020.

He now has around 4.2 ha of vines on his 6 ha estate in Matej in Fruška Gora, a historical winemaking region in Serbia dating back to before the Roman times.

Working biodynamically with Prokupac , Morava, Grašac Pinot Grigio, Tamjanika and Furmint, his philosophy is that of “zero compromise”; minimal intervention, extended skin contact, indigenous yeast, no sulphur and 2-3 years barrel ageing. He produces 15,000 bottles / year.

As of 2024/2025, Baša Vino range comprises the following white (/orange) wines:

  • Jantar – Pinot Grigio with 5-7 days skin contact, aged 28-36 months in old oak and acacia barrels
  • Tamjanikia – 9 days skin contact aged for 24 months in new acacia barrels
  • Furmint – 11 days skin contact with 24 months on lees in new acacia barrels
  • Morava – 10 days maceration with 24 months on lees in new acacia barrels
