Schoolteacher Mirko Škrego established the Škrego Family Winery in 1996
Of their 6Ha of land, 3.5Ha is planted with vines and they have 600 olive trees of which 100 are producing olives. Their olive oil has won gold at the prestigious New York International Olive Oil Competition for the last 5 years.
Škrego were the first producer in BIH to produce an orange wine and are one of the producers making a single varietal Trnjak (since 2015).
The vines are up to 50 years old, and grow on steep slopes at around 250-350masl, managed with sustainable viticulture, hand harvested and fermented spontaneously with their native yeasts.
Today they produce up to 45,000 bottles of wine / year and have a variety of barrels of different size, wood type, toasting levels with which they mix and match to find the right blend each year.
Winemaker Ivan (in photo) joined in 2023 while Mirko’s children Andrea (in photo) and Bariša manage the commercial side.
Škegro grow the 3 main autochthonous grapes Žilavka, Blatina & Trnjak along with recent plantings of Grenache and Petit Manseng.
Their website is currently under development, and they can be reached via their social media accounts:
