Paolo Poggio

Paolo Poggio is one of the smallest producers of Timorasso in the region
Of 15 Ha of land growing apples, pears, plums and peaches, 4 are dedicated to vineyards (1 Ha of which is Timorasso)

Paolo’s grandfather founded the winery in the early 1900s making Paolo the 3rd generation winemaker in the family.
His grandfather originally exported Timorasso to Switzerland and Germany as a young white wine (terburei: turbid wine).

In the 1990s Paolo contributed to the recovery of Timorasso, planting of new vineyards, releasing his first vintage in 1995
A new vineyard of Timorasso was planted in 2020 with the first harvest in 2022.

Paolo’s son Matteo finished studying Viticultural and Enological Sciences in 2022 and is now working both at a winery in Monferrato while helping his father, actively involved in the family winery.

Paolo produces 2 Timorasso:

  • Ronchetto: the flagship wine from a single vineyard planted in 1993
  • Derthona: from the youngest vines (2020). 2022 will be the first vintage to be released
