La Colombera

Elisa Semino – the “Queen of Timorasso
3rd generation winemaker and one of the pioneers of reviving Timorasso in the region

Elisa’s grandparents had been running a farm since 1937, growing chickpeas and alfaalfa, but only started their own small-scale wine production in 1955 for family consumption.

1980 saw the first wines under the “La Colombera” label
1998 Timorasso vines were planted
2000 first harvest of Timorasso
2002 the first Derthona vintage
2006 Timorasso, Il Montino is released (their flagship, single-vineyard wine from selected grapes)

La Colombera has 3 Timorasso:

  • Derthona : with Timorasso from different vineyards
  • Il Montino : single vineyard Timorasso Vineyards
  • Santa Croce : Timorasso aged in Amphora, to be released in 2024

With 2 locations in Tortona, the store in the town centre, and the winery on the outskirts of town, La Colombera wines are some of the most accessible for tasting and purchase.
If you are lucky, you may catch them making chickpea pancakes in the wood-fired oven outside the winery from chickpeas grown on the farm (and sold in the store)
